El Brother, no solo me enseñó Inglés, también me heredó la constancia del ahorro, el valor de la perseverancia y las amistades que aún conservo.
Un 27 de Septiembre de 1911 nace un ser humano cuya sabiduría, humildad y perseverancia marcó huellas imborrables en la comunidad de Nueva California donde se asentó, y en todo el distrito de Tierras Altas. En 1961 llegó a nuestro pueblo con un grupo de monjes (hermanos) y curas provenientes de St. Benedictine Order. Inicialmente, fue docente de Horticultura del Colegio Agrícola San Benito y además fundador de la famosa Biblioteca San Benito, donde muchas personas -como Yo- aprendimos Inglés, el amor por los libros y otros aspectos de relevancia, que en líneas son difíciles de escribir, pero que atesoramos con mucho Amor.
Su vida era una constante rutina que evocaba el lema de San Benito «Ora et Labora», Reza y Trabaja. Por 58 años dedicó su vida a enseñar el mejor inglés que orgullosamente hoy en día varios poseemos . En esta biblioteca, llena de recuerdos imborrables, aprendí a valorar las hojas de libros que ya no se publican, a repartir tarjetas navideñas que pegábamos unas con otras con engrudo, a reconstruir libros dañados, a rezar el rosario en Inglés y Español, a acompañarle a misa no solo los domingos, sino también en celebraciones especiales.
El Brother, no solo me enseñó Inglés, también me heredó la constancia del ahorro, el valor de la perseverancia y las amistades que aún conservo; me inculcó siempre seguir adelante, pese a todas las adversidades – de lo contrario me diría «Shame on You«.
Hablar de él me enorgullece. Hoy en su cumpleaños le digo «Happy Birthday» and I miss you Brother.
