En el año 1945, una familia del distrito de Bugaba se dirige a Hato Volcán en busca de mejores días. Es conocido por todos que esas tierras permanecen en el abandono y sin mantenimiento. Llenas de animales en soltura, y algunos ya silvestres.
La familia Ortega se establece en un terreno y de inmediato inician labores en el Hato, una familia liderada por el padre quien lamentablemente sufre un accidente que lo dejará incapacitado para seguir sustentando a su familia por el resto de sus días.
El hijo será quien tome las riendas y a la corta edad de 12 años se verá en la necesidad de trabajar en el campo y la ganadería. Si bien las circunstancias que lo obligaron a entrar al mundo laboral desde tan temprana edad no fueron las mejores, lo cierto es que esto lo formó y fortaleció para convertirlo en uno de los comerciantes más notables y conocidos de lo que hoy es el Distrito Tierras Altas.
El Sr. Dimas Ortega es ese pequeño que sacó adelante a su familia y hoy es el propietario (ya retirado de labores) de la famosa Panadería Ortega, ubicada en la vía principal de Volcán. Además es fundador del sector transporte del distrito.
